The San Francisco Chronicle has a story about the cult of Traders Joe's and features the community site Trader Joe Fan and Tracking Trader Joe's (The Tao of Trader Joe's: Devoted Fans Meet Online to Swap News, Stay Connected).
Even customers have taken it upon themselves to fill in what Trader Joe's leaves blank. Jovanna Brooks, who lives near Boston and has created a Web site for Trader Joe's fans (www.traderjoefan.com), said she often receives inquiries from customers even though she has no affiliation with the company. Trader Joe's does not have an e-mail address and instead encourages correspondence the old-fashioned way -- by letter or in person.
We've been buying the Trader Joe's Triple Berry-O's cereal since it first came out. Over the last few months, it's been rare to have much of any dried fruit in the cerial. I think we've had one box out of the last ten that even came close to what used to be in the cereal.
Will that be fixed?

I called TJ's corporate office for an explanation on an ingredient. To my astonishment, I was essentially told that if I couldn’t figure it out from the label then I was out of luck. Frequently "natural flavors" and "spices" may contain things not friendly to vegetarians or vegans. I imagine this might be critical for other diets too. In the past I’ve always received a courteous and complete answer. Now they almost sounded annoyed I was asking.
