The New York City Trader Joe's is the first to offer a delivery service for the grocery and wine stores. Unlike Peapod (an online grocery delivery service) you have to visit the store, pay for your groceries and a $4.95 delivery charge, and wait up to two hours for your groceries to arrive. The delivery area ranges from 7th Avenue to 1st Avenue, and from 8th Street to 23rd Street.

The wine store also offers delivery, but there is a $19.95 charge and a one-case minimum order size.
Wish they'd start a delivery service from Phoenix up into the mountains! Or an on-line ordering service. We have been waiting for a TJs up here in Prescott AZ for years!

It is unlikely that TJ's will have an online store, as they want to maintain the "store experience" for people, instead of a faceless web site. It's the crew members--as well as the products--that make the shopping so pleasant.
Besides, there are perishable things you cannot mail, and liquor laws to watch out for...not to mention TJ's generous return policy: Who would spend the time or $$ to mail back a half-eaten can of soup to get their $1.99 back, when you can simply walk into the store and do that today?
In short, it's been addressed, and won't happen in the forseeable future.

this is INSANE given that any grocery store or corner deli in nyc will deliver free. I love TJ's like anyone but they should just focus on being specialty & not convenience--those of us that value them will handle it-- paying 5 bucks is silly when fresh direct etc do it free

The delivery service is provided by a third party (Urban Express, which handles many other Manhattan stores' delivery). A TJ's staffer described the charge to me as being "at the cost to us, more or less".
This allows TJ's to focus on what it does best, focusing on specialty grocery items, while providing a service that Manhattanites expect, and not subsidizing "free delivery" with hefty markups.
If it's insane... don't pay it. But it's not going to change.
NB, the delivery service for the grocery store has changed to cover all of Manhattan, with a three-tiered delivery fee schedule ranging from $4.95 to $14.95.

On-line store would be nice, unlike Jay with the obvious reasons (Wine, and Perishables) some of us have to drive over 45 miles one way to get to a store.
I feel in the very near future, faceless or not their website will have an e-store. IMO

Will TJs be starting delivery in Los Angeles? Please, please do. Besides being an incredible asset to the community, it would cut down on emmissions and be helping the environment! (maybe on big orders, such as $150+ or something?) We love TJs! Please let me know if delivery is in your future plans, or already exists! Thank you!!

I LOVE that Trader Joe's delivers!!! Fresh Direct does charge a delivery fee of $4.95 PLUS a fuel surcharge, usually around $2. With the great value and delicious food I really appreciate the delivery. I've tried hauling all the groceries home myself with my infant strapped on. Even in a taxi...it's tough. I purchase a lot more (which I'm sure they don't mind) when I plan to have the groceries delivered. Thank you TJ's!!!

Please open a store in the Chelsea area.
We have to trek to 13th street and happily
do so, but there is a great demand in the
Chelsea area for a store like Trader Joe. Whole Food is very expensive and a store like
Trader Joe would do very well in this area.

I love TJ's but the whole point of delivery wouldn't be to avoid the grocery lugging...i'd get delivery to avoid that MASSIVE line!
But they don't deliver to UES anyways so I guess this is a moot point.

Hi,
If you start delivering in the Riverside area.....please e-mail me at the above.
Thank you

We don't have a single TJ in New York State. We could sure use one up here in the Albany Saratoga Glens Falls area. You would not be sorry you came here. Tons of people I know are waiting anxiously.

Please Please Please let me order online for delivery in Manhattan. I shop for my lunch and keep the groceries here in the office fridge during the week. But going down to 14th street and fighting the VERY long lines eats up at least one of my lunch HOURS every week. I would love to have it delivered here I always buy less so I can fit into the 12 items or less line. I would buy so much more online.

Sorta defeats the purpose of delivery doesn't it? "you have to visit the store, pay for your groceries and a $4.95 delivery charge, and wait up to two hours for your groceries to arrive"
additionally, some fo their products are starting to get thin, which bothers me.
I started shopping there over 15 years ago...and you could buy nuts there for $3 a bag, even the fancy ones. Now the nut prices are competitive with Whole Foods. Additionally, their cranberry concentrate used to be a great value. I could stretch it with each glass I poured. Now, I see that the concentrate has already been stretched.
The average price of products on my receipt was $2.99, now the average cost of items on my receipt are $4-5 dollars.
Yes, tastes change and yes, it's still good to have an average grocery bill of $50 is great, but they are sneaking up the prices....
