New Oreos Beat Joe-Joe's in Taste Test

The Chicago Tribune conducted a taste test to see how the new Oreo cookies (trans-fat free) fared against other "healthier" sandwich cookies, and the new Oreos won (Joe-Joe's came in second). There were only 8 tasters, so I wonder how Joe-Joe's would do in a larger test.

Oreo (7 points. $4.39 per 18-ounce 24 cents per ounce.) "Classic Oreo flavor with a good mix of cocoa and icing." "Yum, where's the milk?" "Ah just right, nice sense of personality; great chocolate flavor."

Joe-Joe's (5 points. $2.49 per 20-ounce package; 12 cents per ounce.) "Candylike filling." "Good chocolate taste." "Very artificial." "Falls apart."

That's interesting, but do Oreos come in ginger flavor?

The ginger ones are too sweet, IMO. The P.B. Joe-Joe's, now those were a treat. Bring those back and you're my new favorite website.

Yeah, how do we get a petition to bring back the PB JOE JOES?!!??!

I work at a TJs in Northern Virginia, and the thing about Joe Joes is that they're made from things ordinary people can pronounce. This means a lot to moms. I get a lot of customers telling me the Joe Joes taste better than Oreos.

They have too much filling for my liking, which makes them overly sweet. They remind me more of Double Stuf Oreos than the regular ones, and I'm sure that influences adult taste testers.

THe packaging is sturdier, so you don't end up with a mess of broken cookies, and then there's the price, which Nabisco and ordinary supermarkets can't dream of beating. There are some things TJ's doesn't do very well, but we've got cookies down.

If we resorted to begging on the PB Joe Joe's, would that do any good?

Also, the chocolate filled ones are very tasty, but the filling is a bit soft. When you bite the cookie, the filling squishes out. Not necessarily a bad thing once you get used to it, but not what you ordinarily expect.

I also work at TJ's and love the vanilla bean JoeJoe's. I can't understand how someone thought they had an artifical flavor maybe they are used to all those additives. We do know our cookies, I'm a sucker for the Lacyes now there's a cookie.

I second (or third?) the observation that the TJ's chocolate cookies have a too-squishy filling. They're quite a mess to eat, especially in my 3-year-old's hands. HOWEVER, the vanilla Joe-Joe's are OUT OF THIS WORLD good. Mmm mmm good. Tres Yummy. They're not even in the same league as vanilla Oreos. I love the ingredients. I love that I'm not giving my toddler all those other artificial ingredients. I just don't love the fact that I can polish off an entire box in two days - yikes!

If you're one of those picky sorts of people who don't like that the filling in Joe-Joe's sandwich cookies occasionally squishes out when biting into the cookie...there are two simple ways to alleviate this dilema. The first is to freeze Joe-Joes.....they keep deliciously fresh in the freezer right in their own box and the fudge filling tastes most delicious when it's icy cold...especially on a warm day! Secondly....if freezing your Joe-Joe's is either not convenient for you...simply eat each cookie in one bite and stop complaining about the little things in life!!

Never having really grown up with Oreo cookies,I like Joe Joe's better. For one thing they taste fresher, aren't as stiff, and don't have artificial ingredients.

we are an ice cream manufucturer in Cyprus.
we are wondering whether you supply oreo cookies (broken cookies for ice cream)

The problem with joe joe's is that the cookie part is too sweet. Oreo's cookie part has a slighty salty taste that contrasts with the sweet filling.

I personally like the 'Joe Joe's, quite a bit. They are are cheaper, but maybe they could find a way to tone down the sweetness of the filling. I will admit they are sweet. But Oreo's need milk, because they have a taste that makes "have to have it". Most Oreo's I've tried end up broken. But how artificial are 'Joe Joe's' when compared to 'Oreos'? I'll have to keep an eye out to taste the new 'Oreos' but in the meantime I'll take the 'Joe Joe's any day. And 'Hydrox' made a comeback. But those ginger cookies are 'da BOMB'. Whoo!

The candy cane Joe Joe's do not comapare to any cookie, goodby Oreos! They taste like the Girl Scout thin mint cookies. I just bought four boxes and going back to purchase at least another six. They are a limited time only! You have a customer for life!

Yes!!!! the the vanilla bean Joe-joes are the absolute BEST cookie ever made!!!!!!! I am definitely obsessed...but for very very good reason. I can't believe how incredible they taste in my mouth!!!

THe Vanilla Joe-Joe's are the 2ND BEST cookie ever made!!!!!!! They are great, indeed, but they are still chasing Country Choice's Sandwich Cookies. I have BOTH in the house right now and will likely continue to do so!!!!!!!!!!
