West Hartford, CT Grand Opening

On Saturday we stopped by the new West Hartford (Connecticut) Trader Joe's that had opened the day before. They call it a "soft open," since the grand opening is actually on Friday, November 11th. I think they wanted a bit of time to get some practice in before the opening, but the store was packed when we got there. Sorry about the lack of photos, they wouldn't let me take any pictures inside the store.

The West Hartford Trader Joe's is located on I-84 off of exit 40, a few minutes outside of Hartford. When you get off the exit look for Sears and the Corbins Corner Mall (it's across the street from the Westfarms Mall). You can't miss the prominent Trader Joe's sign.

The team was very friendly, and I saw many familiar faces (they "stole" a bunch of people from the Danbury store). While the store was very busy, the lines at the registers were short. The staff knew where everything was and constantly asked, "can I help you?"

Unfortunately, the West Hartford store does not sell alcohol (no Two Buck Chuck!). I've been in the stores that carry wine and beer, and the blue laws in Connecticut drive me crazy.

We bought some fruit, pita bread, hummus, smoked salmon, bread, chips, and juice and had a picnic at  Elizabeth Park in Hartford.
