According to a story published on SignOnSanDiego.com, a new Trader Joe's is scheduled to open in late 2006 or early 2007 in Chula Vista.
The 12,000-square-foot Trader Joe's would be in a proposed shopping center just north of the Eastlake Marketplace. The center would feature a 25,000-square-foot gourmet market, an 18,000-square-foot bookstore, restaurants and shops.
I know some people are wondering why San Diego will have 9 stores when they have been begging Trader Joe's to open even one store in their state.
Many people from California have moved to Boise & meridian Idaho. We need a Trader Joe's Market there. Also Boise is a college town the kids need a good nutritious store to shop at, Please open a Trader Joe's in Boise or Merdian.. Thank you. Alyce

My son & I are moving to Merdian, Idaho from Burbank, California. I would like to see a Trader Joe's Market open in that area. My mom has to send Trader Joe's products to her
friends there. Thanks, Erin

It is very difficult for us to open new stores because we are still fairly small (approx 225 stores) and we promote almost entirely from within. Getting a management team to relocate from San Diego (or any of our built up areas along the west coast) to Idaho is not the easiest thing to organize. Combined with the fact that we have quadrupled in size over the last 13 years you have a difficult logistical situation combined with a simple staffing shortage.
Also it must be realized that we are a predominately California based company. Of our 225 stores about 160 of them are in the state of California. While it is a huge priority in the company right now to establish a national presence, and expansion on the East Coast and Midwest is our driving focus, the new store in San Diego is going in for a variety of reasons. The store in Chula Vista is far south of all our other San Diego locations and is also meant to service our customers in Tijuana who currently have to drive much further north to get to our Hillcrest location.
We really are growing as fast as we can, our main barrier is that we want to maintain the high quality of our products and service as we expand since we rely on a quality customer experience to make up for our almost nonexistant traditional advertising.

I really wish we would have a TJ here in Hawaii. I know they said never, but I believe Hawaii people would pay for it.

Please, please, please open a Trader Joes in Boise or surrounding area. My family, like so many others here, are California transplants. My house was constantly stocked with Trader Joe's wonderful products and we truly miss it. Thanks!

Okay, I know there will soon be 9 Trader Joe's stores in the San Diego area, but we really need a store in downtown San Diego. There is a growing residential population here that would support a store in the neighborhood. I would love to walk to a Trader Joe's instead of having to drive to one all the time. Please consider a downtown SD store!!!!

We are going to be living in Boise for awhile and are hoping to have a Trader Joe's to support. We come fron the Santa Barbara area and support TJ'S there and hope to do the same in Boise.
Thank You

My granddaughter is moving to Hawaii to
work at the Wild Life Park. Is there
a chance that she would find a Trader
Joe's on the island. If so, the family
could send her gift certificates to
keep her fed. I realy treasure the ones
I get every Christmas.

I'm sitting here at my computer, munching on the world's best dried pineapple and Trader Joe's distributes it . When it's all gone, :(, where will I be able to get more? Having moved from the Portland, OR area to Boise, ID I would dearly love a Trader Joe's near me. Boise is reported to be in the top ten wonderful cities to live in the USA and it is growing by leaps and bounds. Please, Trader Joe's, get in on the action around here and make many people very happy.

We are considering moving to Boise from Michigan (originally from CA) and one of the things we checked first was to see if there was a local TJ's. We finally got one here in Ann Arbor and hope for a TJ's soon in Boise.

Please open a TJ's in Spokane, WA. I am a California transplant and love your products so much that I travel to Seattle which is 300 miles east to shop. Spokane is the second largest metropolitan area in Washington and I believe with the rate of growth from California you would do well.

Just wanted to put in my vote for a store in the Boise/Meridian/Nampa Idaho area. Our organization (about 50 families) will be moving there this summer, and we will all be missing our Trader Joe's.

PLEASE HELP THE CALIFORNIA-BOISIAN EX_PAT COMMUNITY!!We just moved to Boise from Irvine and are desperate for a Trader Joe's. There are so many Californians here. Just look at all the posts. It's not a conspiracy. It's one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. and Californians are by far the largest componant of the influx. When we meet othere from California, I am amazed how often the lack of a Trader Joe's comes up more than anything else....even the beach....PLEASE!!!!!!

I second the motion of bringing TJ's to downtown San Diego! Nearly 30,000 people live downtown, with most of the residents being empty nesters and young professionals. The Westfield Horton Plaza mall would be a perfect place to set up shop. In addition to the CV store that's expected to open soon, I saw a sign announcing the arrival of TJ's at the NTC Marketplace. That will make 10 stores in the SD!

TRADER JOE'S + BOISE = PERFECT COMBINATION!!!
Dear Trader Joe's,
We love you. We need you. Don't play hard to get any longer. You are the ONLY thing I miss about living in California. I will even help you find a place to move in and volunteer my time to help you get set up. TJ's would be so successful in the Boise/Eagle/Meridian area. What will it take to get you here? Please let me know because I want to do whatever I can. Do I sound desparate? Good, 'cause I am. I just cannot keep paying $11 at the local health food store for almond butter. And nothing can replace TJ's cottage cheese. I could go on and on....
Anxiously awaiting your arrival at Port Boise,
Miss J

I agree, please open a Trader Joe's in Boise, Idaho. We are considering moving there but are waiting for you first.
People are going to Portland for TJ's items and I want to continue having a Trader Joe's 5 minutes away there like I do here.
You won't regret it!!!!!
Another Californian.

I second the plea for a TJ's in Spokane...it's been a long winter and I couldn't drive over the pass last time I wanted to go to Seattle. What I wouldn't give to be able to walk into a local store, ahhhh.

Please open a TJ's in Boise , Idaho !!! I was a city planner in California and I'll even volunteer to find the perfect location for you in the Boise area!!!! I can leave California, but not Trader Joe's !!

Come to Boise. I trained as a manager for trader joes but left to teach. I think you find plenty of past employees to fill the store time sheet. I know of many captains, first mates and, merchants that would jump at the chance to move to Boise, Idaho. I know I would definitely think about getting into Trader Joe's management again.
Open up here.

Please open in Denver or Boulder. The NM (over 400 miles to Albuquerque)locations are too far to to drive. We need you in Colorado. When we travel to Trader Joe's cities, it's a terrible burden to get the frozen goods on the plane and besides we exceed our baggage weight allowance.

I'm looking at homes as we speak from So. California to relocate to Boise, Idaho. What did I internet search first? If there was a Trader Joes'. I'm on a special diet for health reasons and my health has improved in the last year due to the quality of foods you offer. None in Boise? Why? Read the post. We are soon to all be transplants from California. I guarantee you'd be sold out daily! If you need good people to start up..I'm available. Legal background, management, marketing.

Please can you open a second/third location in Albuquerque??? Our Eastside store is truly wonderful, but in a metro area of ~850,000 TJ's just can't seem to keep product on the shelves. Every week my wife and I go and it is very inconsistent as far as finding what we like. The store must be doing incredible business as the personnel seem to be stocking the shelves all day and night. Please give us at least two more locations Downtown, and the Westside.

Hello to any fellow Spokanian - So Cal transplants - we too moved from Irvine, CA to Spokane, WA and one of the top 10 items we sorely miss from So Cal is TRADER JOES. There are countless California transplants here and Spokane is the second largest city in Spokane. The majority of Spokanians are very much into organic foods and healthy lifestyles up here - please, please, please, bring your wonderful store to our city.
